I get asked a lot how do I know all this holistic/spirituality stuff. It's hard to pinpoint. The easy answer is it's in my DNA. I am Taino Indian and Afrolatina. I am a melting pot of Native Indigenous blood, lineage from Portugual/Spain and Africa! I grew up hearing stories of my ancestors from Spain but I didn't confirm it until I took a DNA test from 23andMe (I highly recommend them over the other sources). I love my roots and with them I have been exposed to many superstitions, blended cultures, and beliefs.Â
You see, regardless of what part of the World you are from, there are some major similarities. For example, using salt to get rid of negative energy. This belief is not only found in America, but all over the world including Asia. I enjoy meeting people from different cultural backgrounds, beliefs, religions, and just learning from them. I have purposefully exposed myself to diversity to gather information about superstitions and beliefs different than mine. By doing so, I have compiled a lot of knowledge and an understanding for spirituality and holistic healing. To further add to that, I take accredited courses and purchase educational materials to further my knowledge and understanding. I don't consider myself a professional because I know that there is always room to improve, learn, and grow, but I do take every effort to ensure that I am staying true to certain practices and beliefs in order to not misrepresent anyone or anything.Â
I have always been an old soul, years ahead of my time and so much wiser than my peers. I never tried to fit in, I always stood out and brought people together. If someone was having lunch alone or had no friends, I would be the one to accompany them. In my first blog I explained my connection with plants. I love nature and preserving it the best that I can. Perhaps that's my Taino roots. You see, we have this divine knowledge within us. In fact, it's been in us all along but society conditions us, causing us to forget and drift further away from this knowledge. There are natural remedies all around us, in the plants, and the Earth, in the sand, in the Sun. My Taino ancestors didn't need modern day technology to know this, they were one with the nature, the Earth, the land and were able to sense this and know this. They were so in tune and aligned with nature/the Earth that they could see the energy emitting from the plants and some could even hear the plants speak to them-before you say I am going to the deep end look at it this way. When you take psychedelics or get high objects talk to you right? Some people get major realizations or discover things from such experiences. Now I have never done drugs and I don't condone them but that's the analogy. There are some things I just know, call it intuition or claircognizance or attribute it my indigenous roots, and other things I have learned from different people, courses, and research. If you don't want to take it from my perspective, that's fine. Let's look at it through the eyes of modern science. Scientists say that it is proven that getting out with the nature, whether it's simply taking your shoes off and walking barefoot on the beach or the grass, will help aid people suffering from depression and even anxiety. With all of that said, at the end of the day it all comes down to what you feel in your heart. Don't ever follow the crowd and current trends. Do your research, ask questions, get a firm understanding and trust your intuition. A lot of it has to do with whether or not you believe in it and little to do with the certain object (sage, stones, prayers, etc.) Many people feel that their prayers go unanswered when in reality they are not believing in themselves or the truth wholeheartedly. You can't expect abundance to come to you immediately just because you purchase a gemstone. You have to affirm and believe it is so and so it will be. That goes for everything in life. You get what you put out. Some call it karma, others call it the Law of Attraction. Think about it. Let it resonate with you.Â
